
Job description
The Applied AI Engineer ensures AI systems work in real-world contexts. They design, deploy, adapt, test, and validate AI systems in program environments to ensure they are accurate, usable, and effective in practice. The AAE works directly with country teams, partners, and communities to configure AI systems for local contexts.
Lead end-to-end deployment of AI systems, adapt systems to local environments, configure prompts and workflows, and ensure systems reflect real-world humanitarian knowledge. Test AI systems in real-world conditions, identify failure modes, and conduct safety validation and red teaming.
This role requires a solutions-driven, passionate change-maker with experience in software engineering, technical implementation, or related roles. Proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript and modern web development practices is required, along with experience deploying and iterating on LLM-based applications in real-world environments.
