Reuters is seeking an editor to run its Washington news report and broader U.S. news report through weekend hours, including serving as a backup editor for our White House coverage team. The job will have a four-day work week, Friday-Monday, with Friday largely spent editing stories and planning, Saturday-Sunday spent running spot and beat coverage and Monday used to ensure strong carryover of coverage into a new week.

Requirements

Strong news judgment, strong writing and editing ability, and experience covering the biggest and fastest-moving stories
A strong commitment to speed, flexibility at working with various beat reporters and strong organizational and planning skills
The ability to work closely with visual journalists on spot coverage
