Job Description
The Outreach Worker implements the outreach efforts of the SSVF program, including street outreach and program marketing to locate eligible homeless veterans. Collaborates with SSVF outreach coordinator to create targeted outreach plans/strategies.
Requirements
- B.A. preferred, but not necessary
- Previous experience in working with the homeless population preferred but not required
- Knowledgeable of substance abuse issues, therapeutic interventions, and treatment planning, particularly as relevant to Therapeutic Communities
- Working knowledge of community resources as they relate to homelessness and veterans
- Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
- Excellent computer and data entry skills
- Well-organized, ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Culturally competent, with excellent cross-cultural communication skills
- Experience and knowledge in working with a multidisciplinary treatment team
- Must be detail oriented, flexible, and self-motivated
- Three (3) years of work experience is preferred
