
Job description
As an Optical Research Engineer, you will collaborate with a team of optical scientists to support fiber optic interconnect product development at 3M. You will be part of an exciting new project for 3M's Interconnect Portfolio and have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and creativity.
Your responsibilities will include supervising a small team of technicians, establishing intellectual property for 3M, analyzing competitor technology, and developing I.P. strategies. You will also establish test plans and methods, prepare samples, conduct tests, analyze data, and complete test reports.
This role requires a strong background in optical design, experience working with fiber optics, and excellent communication skills. You will have the opportunity to work on a global team and contribute to new product development and support of existing platforms.
