Machinist

Role Overview

The machinist is responsible for setting up and operating machine tools to produce precision parts and fabricating and modifying parts to make or repair machine tools. They maintain industrial machines, applying knowledge of mechanics, shop mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures.

What You Will Do

Performs machinist duties, assists with tasks in the machine shop and production areas, performs machining work according to drawings or supervisor's instructions, and maintains order and cleanliness in the machine shop.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Technical School or Apprenticeship preferred
• Ability to self-motivate and problem solve
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to handle numbers and multiple tasks at one time
• A proven understanding of milling machines, lathes, and grinders and associated tooling and set up
• Ability to use measurement equipment and hold tolerances
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Ability to seek and accept feedback from others and complete jobs with little or no supervision
• Ability to speak, read, and write in English
