The ASPCA's Community Medicine team provides expert veterinary care to underserved communities in Los Angeles. Senior Staff Veterinarians provide compassionate, quality preventive and basic care to patients, overseeing all aspects of veterinary care during a clinic day. They also assist with mentoring Community Medicine Veterinarians, provide peer training, and participate in CM's monthly virtual medical rounds.
Requirements
- Current California state veterinary license
- Proven ability to perform 30-40 high quality, high volume spay/neuter surgical procedures per spay/neuter clinic day
- Ability to mentor and train veterinary professionals
- Fear Free Shelter certification
- Knowledge of and ability to use low-stress handling techniques
- Ability to efficiently perform physical examinations, outpatient surgical procedures and diagnose and treat cats and dogs
- Sound clinical judgement and resiliency
- Able to work standing for 8 or more hours and bend, crouch, kneel and move freely
