Release Engineer

Backblaze is seeking a Release Engineer to join its team. The role involves managing the software release process, automating processes, and leveraging AI to identify gaps and enhance workflows. The ideal candidate has 5+ years of experience in release management and expertise in deployment practices.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience managing releases
• Expertise in deployment practices
• Methodical problem-solving and troubleshooting mindset
• Experience with scripting (python/javascript)
• Strong Git knowledge regarding branching strategies, tagging, merging etc.
• Understanding of build system like Maven, Gradle and CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions)
• Utilized AI tools in a manner advantageous to the release process
• Understanding of cloud storage concepts and infrastructure
• Familiarity with JIRA or another project and issue-tracking software
• Experience with Agile/Scrum and understanding of SDLC processes
• Good communication skills, both written and verbal
