
Job description
This entry-level position performs construction and field observation on projects to ensure compliance with plans and specifications. The Construction Engineering Technician works independently with minimal supervision and applies knowledge of construction practices and materials testing requirements to document Contractor's construction progress and perform quality assurance on projects.
Perform general and advanced construction and field observation, read and interpret construction plans and specifications, conduct materials testing, maintain log of materials testing results, measure installed quantities, track and report on installed products, write documentation for as-built drawings, complete detailed construction reports, monitor performance of contractors, and perform submittal control reviews.
The ideal candidate will have a general knowledge of construction practices and methodology, working knowledge of surveying, staking procedures, and testing procedures. They will also have excellent communication skills, initiative, responsibility, flexibility, and leadership. Proficiency in MS Office and technical software is required, with the ability to learn CPM and Newforma software programs.
