Senior Software Engineer - Frontend

Role Overview

The Commerce Checkout Engineering team is responsible for building, operating, and continuously improving the core checkout experience on the BigCommerce platform. The team's purpose is to ensure that merchants can reliably convert shoppers into buyers through a secure, performant, scalable, and flexible checkout flow.

What You Will Do

Build high-quality front-end features using React and TypeScript, refactor legacy or complex areas of the codebase, identify and fix issues across the stack, and collaborate with product managers, designers, and other engineers.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of hands-on experience building front-end applications with React and TypeScript
• Bachelor's degree in CS, EE, SW, CE, MIS; or equivalent experience
• Maintainable, well-tested code and care about leaving things better than you found them
• Comfortable working in existing systems as much as building new ones
• Clear communicator who can explain technical details and trade-offs to both engineers and non-engineers
• Take ownership of outcomes, follow through on commitments, and hold yourself to a high standard of reliability
• Enjoy mentoring and supporting others, and contribute positively to the team's culture and technical growth
