
Job description
The Derrickman works under the direction of the Driller to support ongoing rig operations, ensuring all circulating systems, overhead equipment, and derrick are safe and functional. The role involves performing general derrick, shaker area, and pump room housekeeping and material preservation activities, implementing and upholding safety and environmental compliance requirements, and assisting the Driller with the safe and efficient execution of all well and drilling activities.
Safely and efficiently perform all duties as assigned by the Driller, ensure all operations are carried out in a safe and conscientious manner, and actively participate in and contribute to pre-shift and Toolbox Talk meetings. Assist with rig skidding or jacking operations, prepare and make up conductor pipe and drill strings, handle drill pipe or tubing, and assist in the preparation of additional drill pipe, drill collar, or special tools.
The ideal candidate will have relevant oilfield experience in a similar capacity, experience of offshore drilling operations, and demonstrate previous experience and competence as a Floorman. Good working knowledge of drilling fluids and circulating systems, experience of working with high-pressure pump systems, and the ability to work as part of a team and follow directions are also required.
