As the Head of Tax, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with all federal and state tax laws and regulations, developing and implementing tax planning strategies, and overseeing tax audits and controversies. You will also be responsible for serving as a thought leader and participating in trade associations, and collaborating with Government Relations to support advocacy for tax matters. In this role, you will work closely with key business stakeholders, including Treasury, FP&A, Investment Management, Legal, and other business partners to develop and implement tax strategies to optimize the Company's tax position. You will also monitor new and proposed tax law changes, evaluate and communicate impacts to business partners, and advise the Finance leadership, Legal, and other business partners on tax reporting issues.
Requirements
- Minimum 12 – 15 years of tax reporting and compliance experience in the life insurance industry or in a tax practice of a major accounting firm working with life insurance companies; CPA required
- Experience dealing with federal, state and local tax regulators
- Technical expertise and experience in life insurance tax and tax accounting (ASC 740, SSAP 101), consolidated tax return regulations, and Life/Non-Life group issues
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Strong accounting and analytical skills
- Ability to manage issues and projects across Tax and business partners
- Ability to clearly communicate complex financial and process-related information to management
- Ability to manage multiple complex tasks towards completion at the same time
