Mechanical Designer

Role Overview

Designs equipment and coordinates layout and design of equipment for Afinitas, a global leader in equipment and forming systems for precast concrete infrastructure. The role requires technical expertise in mechanical design, drafting, and manufacturing processes. The Mechanical Designer will work in an office environment associated with a manufacturing facility.

What You Will Do

Designs are functional, easily manufactured, and meet customer expectations. Designs are completed according to schedule. Performs design analysis for equipment, creates manufacturing drawings, and bills of material. Evaluates and implements design changes.

Why It Might Be a Fit

The ideal candidate has a technical 4-year education or technical 2-year education, with training and/or experience in using AutoCAD or similar CAD software and SolidWorks or similar 3-D modeling software. Excellent organizational and communication skills are required, as well as the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and adapt to shifting priorities.

Requirements

• Technical 4-year education or technical 2-year education
• Training and/or experience in using AutoCAD or similar CAD software
• Training and/or experience in using SolidWorks or similar 3-D modeling software
• Basic understanding of drafting standards, dimensioning, and tolerances
• Basic understanding of mechanical power relationships such as horsepower, torque, speed
• Basic understanding of strength of materials and structural analysis
• Basic understanding of manufacturing processes
• Excellent organizational and communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, adapt to shifting priorities
• Attention to detail
• Work individually as well as in a team environment
• Takes personal ownership and satisfaction on quality work
