The Ultrasound Technologist is responsible for performing diagnostic procedures, assessing patients, and documenting pertinent information. They must be competent in technical operations of equipment and provide safe environments. The role involves performing QA of exams, participating in clinical education, and participating in department's Performance Improvement Projects.
Requirements
- Competent in technical operations of all equipment in this section
- Assess patients, review orders/chart as appropriate confirming reason for exam
- Prepare patients for procedure, answer any questions and effectively communicate with the supervising radiologist for special instructions and/or questions regarding exam protocol
- Provide safe environment to include infection control guidelines, universal precautions and patient safety goals
- Perform QA of exams (correct order, accurate/complete image annotation, correct laterality) prior to sending to radiologist for interpretation
- Participate in the clinical education of student sonographers
- Participate in department’s Performance Improvement Projects
