Under administrative direction, the Nursing Supervisor will supervise, coordinate, monitor and evaluate assigned clinical nursing staff.
Requirements
- Supervise assigned staff, program and staff including, but not limited to, hiring, supervision, evaluation, disciplinary actions and termination of employees; as well as scheduling and obtaining coverage.
- Ensure adherence to department standards and practices.
- Assist in and/or develops policies and procedures required for department operations.
- Coordinates, monitors, and evaluates assigned clinical and nursing services.
- Teaches clients and staff about health care topics and medications.
- Treats, examines and renders care to patients clients in accordance with physician’s orders.
- Observes and monitors patient reactions to medications and procedures.
- Orients new staff and trains them on policies and procedures.
- Attends client staffing and treatment team meetings as indicated.
- Assists and trains cottage staff to make appropriate decisions pertaining to the health care needs of clients.
- Passes client medications and trains staff in passing medications and associated documentation.
- Provides verbal and written instruction of situations requiring emergency intervention.
- Acts as a member of inter-disciplinary team to develop acute patient care plans, case management plans and utilization review.
- Plans and regularly re-evaluates patient care needs.
- Provides preventative and rehabilitative psychiatric nursing procedures.
- Assists with daily operations of the Health Clinic.
- Participates in Quality Improvement as indicated.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of the clinical record through the timely completion of assigned documentation in accordance with applicable licensing and accreditation regulations and standards.
