As a Payroll Accountant at Groq, you will own the accounting side of the global payroll function, ensuring accurate and timely recording of payroll activity. You will partner closely with the Payroll Specialist to support a seamless end-to-end payroll process. The role requires a strong focus on payroll accounting in a high-growth technology environment.
Requirements
- BA/BS degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or progress toward CPA a plus
- 4–7 years of progressive accounting experience, with a strong focus on payroll accounting in a high-growth technology environment
- Hands-on experience with NetSuite is required
- Experience working across multiple payroll systems and a strong understanding of how payroll flows in a global setup; familiarity with ADP, Remote, Rouse, Tasama, or similar international payroll/EOR platforms is a strong plus
- Solid understanding of US GAAP, payroll tax regulations (federal, state, and local), and multi-country payroll accounting, including EOR arrangements
- Familiarity with compensation structures in private companies and an interest in supporting cap table and equity-related accounting activities as the company's capital structure evolves
- Strong reconciliation skills with demonstrated ability to investigate variances, identify root causes, and implement sustainable solutions
- Advanced Excel/Google Sheets skills and comfort working with large data sets across multiple sources
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communicator who can partner effectively with a small, collaborative accounting and payroll team while operating as an individual contributor
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously, take ownership, and drive work forward with minimal direction
- Maintains the highest level of confidentiality and discretion when handling sensitive employee, compensation, and company financial data
