
Job description
The Coding Specialist I is responsible for coding ED, Recurring and Ancillary accounts using ICD-10-CM diagnosis and procedure codes and CPT-4 code sets. This position requires a minimum of 2 years of college coding course and 1 year of ED/Ancillary coding experience.
Review medical record information, query attending physicians, validate medical necessity, and verify charges to ensure accuracy and compliance with OCE and NCCI edits.
This role requires strong analytical and critical thinking skills, problem-solving ability, and excellent organizational skills. The ideal candidate will have certifications such as RHIT, CCS, CCSP, or CPC, and experience with Encoders, CAC, EHRs, and computer skills.
