Laboratory Technician - Construction Materials Testing

Role Overview

The Laboratory Technician is responsible for performing tests on a variety of building products and components. This position may include opportunity to travel on occasion. The role is part of Intertek's Building and Construction division, which provides quality and safety solutions to top-recognized brands and companies.

What You Will Do

Manage all assigned jobs, learn test standards and procedures, review contract requirements, coordinate test schedule, set-up and perform tests, analyze results, write test reports, and communicate with clients.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• General construction/carpentry knowledge and experience using power tools
• Technical competence to understand and communicate test procedures, specifications, and results
• Mechanical aptitude
• Physical ability to routinely lift 50 pounds
• Ability to follow directions and work with minimal supervision
• Excellent customer service skills
• Strong communication skills – both written and oral
• Good computer skills using Word and Excel and technical competence for use of lab equipment and tools
• Valid driver’s license and reliable driving record
