
Job description
As a Network Cable Technician, you will support the team at Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory with installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting network cabling infrastructure. You will install, terminate, and conduct certification testing of network cables, and maintain configuration/control records for copper and fiber patch panels and cable locations.
Install equipment enclosures, patch panels, and equipment; install grounding cables; install cable trays and accessories; install intra-building backbone cabling; terminate Category 3, 5e, 6, and 6a UTP cable; diagnose and correct copper cable and fiber optic cable problems.
You must have 5+ years of experience in cabling or network technician work, and be qualified to install, terminate, and conduct certification testing of Category 3, 5e, 6, and 6a UTP cable, multimode and single-mode fiber cable. You must also have knowledge of structured cable standards and codes, and be proficient with Fluke DSX-8000 copper/fiber tester and Fluke OFP-100-QI OptiFiber Pro Optical Time Domain Reflectometer.
