Switchgear Testing Technician

Role Overview

Assemble, operate, maintain, and test electrical equipment by following standard procedures and instructions. Work on various electrification products such as Switchgears, HPU's, VFD's, relays, transformers, and various wires and switches.

What You Will Do

Install, maintain, troubleshoot, calibrate, repair, and replace low voltage electric distribution systems and related equipment. Test power systems using equipment such as phase meters, hi-potential testers, meggers, and infrared thermometers.

Why It Might Be a Fit

Mentor less experienced personnel, assist with product testing, and demonstrate proper operation to customers and inspectors. Repair products/equipment with little to no supervision.

Requirements

• Basic knowledge and understanding of testing and troubleshooting methods
• Able to read and interpret engineering configuration and wiring drawings
• Ability to inspect, troubleshoot, recommend repair and modifications
• Understanding of hazards associated with commissioning LV/MV equipment
• Awareness and understanding of company's policies, procedures, products, and services
• Work with minimal supervision
• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
