QEC Calibration Engineer

Role Overview

Join IQM's team in Munich, Germany, or Espoo, Finland, to work on developing and improving quantum operations required for quantum error correction (QEC).

What You Will Do

Improve QPU calibration methods, develop quantum operations, implement and execute QEC experiments, and contribute to the development of control software and calibration strategies.

Why It Might Be a Fit

Strong understanding of quantum computing and QPU physics, experience calibrating superconducting QPUs, and strong analytical and problem-solving skills are required.

Requirements

• PhD or MSc in Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• Several years of relevant experience in quantum computing or related areas
• Strong understanding of quantum computing and QPU physics
• At least two years of experience calibrating superconducting QPUs
• Strong Python programming skills and familiarity with its ecosystem
• Experience with software development workflows, for instance unit testing, documentation, git version control
• Experience with data analysis in Python
• Ability to execute experiments independently and analyze complex data
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Good communication skills and ability to work across teams
