Senior Java Backend Engineer

Role Overview

This role sits within a high-scale engineering environment focused on building and optimizing backend systems that support massive, data-intensive platforms used by hundreds of millions of users worldwide. You will work on distributed architectures that combine real-time querying with large-scale batch processing, ensuring reliability, performance, and scalability across critical services.

What You Will Do

Design, build, and scale distributed backend systems capable of handling high-throughput real-time queries and large-scale data processing workloads. Develop and maintain robust data pipelines and batch processing systems to ensure reliable and efficient data operations. Build and enhance REST and GraphQL APIs supporting high-volume consumer and enterprise-facing applications.

Requirements

• 3+ years of professional backend engineering experience with strong focus on Java and JVM-based systems
• Solid experience with Kotlin alongside Java in production environments
• Strong expertise in Spring Boot and experience with batch processing frameworks such as Spring Batch
• Hands-on experience designing and consuming REST APIs and GraphQL services
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, messaging systems (e.g., Kafka), and database technologies (SQL and NoSQL)
• Practical experience integrating AI coding assistants (e.g., Copilot, Cursor) into real-world development workflows
• Experience working in Agile, remote-first engineering environments
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
