Ocean Export Representative

Role Overview

The Ocean Export Representative will communicate with clients to understand shipment specifications, select ocean carriers, and create quotes. They will work with the pricing department to get appropriate rates and review quotes prior to vendor contracting. The representative will also book with ocean carriers, create bookings in AS400, and send confirmation to clients.

What You Will Do

The main responsibilities of the Ocean Export Representative include communicating with clients, selecting ocean carriers, creating quotes, booking with ocean carriers, and sending confirmation to clients. They will also arrange for trucking if required and cross-reference information to identify discrepancies in the booking process.

The ideal candidate will have up to 1 year of professional experience in pricing, quoting, and booking in the transportation/supply chain field. They will have strong geographical awareness and experience routing international cargo, as well as understanding of ocean carrier services and operations.

Requirements

• Up to 1 year of professional experience in pricing, quoting, and booking in the transportation/supply chain field
• Strong geographical awareness and experience routing international cargo
• Understanding of ocean carrier services and operations
• Understanding of international transportation pricing practices and associated administration
• Ability to negotiate with agents, carriers, and domestic vendors
• Ability to read and understand ocean carrier contracts
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Computer literacy and strong organizational, interpersonal, and presentation skills
