Resident Engineer - Rhode Island

Role Overview

M&J Engineering seeks a Resident Engineer to oversee contract public and private sector projects in the Rhode Island office location. The Resident Engineer will manage a project team, ensure project work is performed on schedule, on budget, and according to plans and quality standards.

What You Will Do

Primary responsibilities include supervising office and field staff, ensuring all work operations adhere to approved work safety plans and environmental permits, monitoring and maintaining project CPM schedules and milestones, and evaluating contractor pay requisitions.

Requirements

• Considerable knowledge of civil construction work practices and principles
• Skill and ability to analyze and evaluate constructability issues and provide effective solutions
• Technical skills and understanding of CPM schedules, preparation of engineering and administrative reports
• Strong leadership skills and ability to effectively communicate both verbally and written
• Working knowledge of the RIDOT Standard Specifications and Standard Details
• Five (5) years of related experience in various capacities working on applicable civil construction projects
• Must be a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) registered in RI
• Must be able to lead and manage CE&I project staff, ensure all aspects of project work are accounted for
• Must have excellent interpersonal and written communication skills
• Must have experience using Microsoft Word and Excel, and AASHTOW and COMPASS for construction management and document control
