Lead Design Engineer

Role Overview

Moog Commercial Aircraft Group is seeking a Lead Design Engineer to lead and develop design workstreams for commercial flight-control products. The role involves leading a small team of designers, taking technical accountability for delivery, and driving designs from concept through prototype testing to manufacture and handover.

What You Will Do

As a Lead Design Engineer, you will lead a team of designers, design and develop mechanical components and assemblies, collaborate with project and systems teams, create technical drawings and 3D CAD models, and mentor junior engineers.

To be considered for the role, you will need a Master's and/or Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, significant practical experience in mechanical design, and experience in the aerospace industry with an understanding of regulated design and airworthiness principles.

Requirements

• Master's and/or Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering
• Significant practical experience in mechanical design (typically 8+ years)
• Experience in aerospace industry with an understanding of regulated design and airworthiness principles
• Experience designing rotating equipment and hydraulic systems
• Proficiency in producing technical drawings and specifications
• Knowledge of material selection and manufacturing processes
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Calm and effective under technical pressure
• Experience leading or contributing to DFMEAs and risk assessments
