Senior Controls Engineer

Role Overview

MPI is a worldwide leader in manufacturing specialized equipment for the investment casting industry. We are looking for a hands-on senior controls engineer to develop, design and collaborate on the creation of control systems for our equipment. This includes leading the team through multiple projects, creating electrical schematics, PLC program logic, developing and modifying controls, and ensuring our equipment is safe, efficient and cutting-edge.

What You Will Do

Supports MPI lean culture and initiatives, oversees the completion of an electrical design for a project with limited supervision, provides guidance and direction to other Controls engineers, and performs tasks such as electrical enclosure design support, electrical schematic design, hands-on PLC and HMI programming, and project documentation.

Requirements

• Experience in electrical design and programming of capital equipment
• Sound understanding of electrical design, schematics, and electrical codes
• Vast knowledge of machine tool electrical design
• Vast knowledge of PLC programming
• Vast knowledge of HMI programming
• Vast knowledge of Robotics' programming
• Ability to know when to seek guidance
• Ability to evaluate a process for efficiency and waste
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Methodical approach to problem solving
• Flexible, able to react to changing needs
• Advanced communication skills, able to work with and lead others
• Good organizational skills, able to plan a project from beginning to end
