Job Description
The Animal Control Officer investigates violations and educates citizens regarding Animal Control ordinances. Responds to animal-related complaints and calls for service, such as animal care, control, rescue, and relocation. Captures, leads, lifts, carries, and restrains wild and domestic animals. Handles sick, injured, orphaned, and aggressive animals, and performs humane euthanasia when necessary. Investigates initial animal cruelty and neglect complaints, issues citations, and educates pet owners on proper care and treatment of animals.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Experience with Windows 7 and/or 10 and Office 2007 and above
- Self-starter with ability to work independently
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Good driving record and valid driver's license
- Proof of vehicle insurance
- Ability to navigate city streets and county roads
- Exercise independent judgment, make decisions, and remain emotionally resilient in high stress situations
