Prescriber - IICAPS

Newport Mental Health (NMH) is a progressive organization utilizing person-centered recovery approaches to support individuals recovering from mental illness and substance use disorders. They provide a range of services, including outreach, therapy, and substance use therapy, within a multidisciplinary setting. The Prescriber/Psychiatrist role in Intensive In-Home Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Services involves psychiatric evaluation, medication management, and treatment oversight for children and families.

Requirements

• Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree
• Board certification or board eligibility in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry
• Active and unrestricted license to practice medicine in Rhode Island
• 5+ years of experience in providing psychiatric services to children, adolescents, and families
• Proficiency in psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, psychopharmacology, and evidence-based treatment modalities
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Understanding of psychiatric disorders and treatment protocols
• Knowledge of psychotropic medications
• Awareness of family systems dynamics
• Understanding of psychiatric emergencies and crisis intervention
• Proficiency in prescribing and managing psychotropic medications
• Effective communication and collaboration
• Competence in managing psychiatric crises
• Adaptability and treatment challenges
• Patient-centered care and compassion
