The Histotechnician plays a vital role in supporting the Mohs surgeon by ensuring accurate and efficient preparation of tissue specimens. This includes assisting with specimen grossing, tissue processing, embedding, cutting, staining, and maintaining a clean and well-functioning laboratory environment.
Requirements
- 24 semester hours in medical laboratory technology courses, OR 24 semester hours in science courses, with at least 6 hours in chemistry, 6 hours in biology, and 12 hours in a combination of chemistry, biology, or medical laboratory technology.
- Associate degree in chemical or biological sciences or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution.
- Completion of 60 semester hours (or equivalent) from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience working with Mohs procedures.
- Certification as a Histotechnologist (HTL, ASCP) or Histotechnician (HT, ASCP).
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and laboratory equipment operation.
