The CNC Programmer is responsible for reading and interpreting blueprints, writing new CNC programs, troubleshooting and improving existing CNC programs, and setting up and operating machines to prove out CNC programs. The focus is on improving programs that maximize quality of the final product in the most effective, efficient, and economic way possible.
Requirements
- Create, proof, and troubleshoot CNC programs using G and M codes
- Collaborate with engineering and production to integrate CNC programming into manufacturing processes
- Monitor machine performance and make recommendations for improvement
- Participate in Kaizen continuous improvement activities to help with process optimization
- Backup and maintain CNC programs to ensure data integrity
- Participate in Tier meetings to complete daily corrective actions related to programming
- Conduct program simulations on equipment to prevent errors in machining
- Read and analyze blueprints to verify final products are made to specification
- Use gaging to measure final dimensions of product to verify accurate machining
