Under the direction of the Project Manager or Project Engineer, the Mechanical Designer designs and drafts mechanical and/or electromechanical subassemblies used in the thermal processing of specialty materials.
Requirements
- Working knowledge of design practices as relates to vacuum vessels or systems.
- Strong working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing concepts used in the fabrication and assembly of industrial assemblies, weldments, and detail parts.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, project requirements documents, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
- Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
- Strong working knowledge of CAD software e.g., Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD Mechanical, Mechanical Desktop, and similar CAD platforms.
- Working knowledge of Product Data Management software (e.g. Autodesk Vault, Solidworks PDM).
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
