Hydroponics Officer

Role Overview

The Hydroponics Officer will support the implementation and monitoring of climate literacy and hydroponic production activities within the LINK Project. They will ensure the proper functioning of hydroponic greenhouses, implement environmental clubs, train beneficiaries in production techniques, and strengthen initiatives for sustainable horticulture-based income generation.

What You Will Do

The Hydroponics Officer will develop agricultural business skills, support local youth and producers in planning production, accessing markets, commercializing products, and developing business plans related to hydroponic production. They will also provide support to climate literacy activities and contribute to the integration of climate-resilient agricultural practices into production and community capacity-building activities.

The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of experience in agriculture or agricultural projects, technical knowledge in agricultural practices, and experience in agricultural business, marketing, or value chains. They will also have experience in training producers or community groups and knowledge in preparing agricultural business plans.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or technical professional training in Agronomy, Agricultural Business, or a relevant field
• At least 2 years of experience in agriculture or agricultural projects
• Technical knowledge in agricultural practices, including horticulture or hydroponics
• Experience in agricultural business, agricultural marketing, or value chains
• Experience in training producers or community groups
• Knowledge in preparing agricultural business plans
• At least 1-2 years of experience in field work with communities, preferably in development projects
• Proven experience in implementing initiatives related to climate adaptation and literacy for adolescents and young people within and outside schools
• Experience in community mobilization and engagement, especially with adolescents and young people
• Knowledge of the local context and ability to work in rural communities
• Ability to collect data in the field and prepare simple reports
• Availability for frequent travel and regular work in the field
• Excellent planning and results-oriented skills
• Proven experience in organizational capacity, including skills to plan, set priorities, and complete work according to established requirements and goals
• Proficiency in writing technical and programmatic reports that document the direction and results of the program
• Possess a valid driver's license for motorized vehicles equal to or greater than 125CC
