Job Description
Vera Institute of Justice is seeking an Associate General Counsel to join its Legal Department. The role will provide comprehensive in-house legal services to the organization, including advising staff on federal, state, and local requirements, and drafting and reviewing agreements. The position will be based in Vera's Brooklyn, NY office and will report to the Chief Legal Officer. The ideal candidate will have a J.D. or LL.M. from an ABA-accredited U.S. law school, admission to the New York State bar, and five or more years of relevant experience.
Requirements
- J.D. or LL.M. from an ABA-accredited U.S. law school
- Admission to New York State bar
- Five or more years of relevant experience
- Strong interest in nonprofit organizations and ability to master new legal topics independently
- Excellent writing skills
- Ability to manage relationships across the organization and with outside parties diplomatically
- Technical knowledge of Microsoft Office and online databases
