The SUD Counselor provides counseling and treatment to patients with addictive problems, performs discharge and referral summaries, and maintains client case files. They also provide training and support to registered counselors.
Requirements
- High School diploma required
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred
- Valid CCAPP, CADTP or CAADE registration required for Reg. SUD Counselor
- Valid CCAPP, CADTP or CAADE certification required for Certified SUD Counselor
- 315 hours approved, AOD specific education
- 160 hours of supervised work experience (field practicum)
- 2080 hours of work experience
- Passing score on the IC&RC Written Exam, CATC exam or equivalent California approved test
- Experience counseling people with substance abuse challenges using evidence-based practices
- Knowledge of the local treatment community and referrals preferred
- If in recovery, at least two years sobriety preferred
- Excellent customer service experience
- Computer (PC) literate in general office functions
- Commitment to HIPAA and professional ethics
- Current CPR and first aid certificate
- Valid driver’s license with an insurable driving record
