The Lifeguard position creates a safe and positive atmosphere that welcomes and respects all individuals while promoting and maintaining a safe swimming environment in the pool, deck and surrounding areas in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.
Requirements
- Maintain current CPR, First Aid, and YMCA certifications
- Report to work on time and with safety equipment
- Ensure safety of all participants in the aquatics area
- Adhere to Blood borne Pathogen standards
- Document incidents and notify supervisor
- Be visible and friendly with members and staff
- Test and document water quality
- Keep the pool area clean and accessible
- Follow established policies and procedures
- Participate in association events and fund-raising activities
- Secure required trainings and certifications
- Attend in-service training and provide work availability
- Monitor chlorine and PH levels
- Conduct regular sanitation of equipment and areas
- Report to work on time and in uniform
- Follow child abuse and neglect reporting process
