Staff Software Engineer

Affirm is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to provide technical leadership across Marketplace Experience. The role involves setting technical strategy, collaborating across teams, and mentoring engineers. The ideal candidate has 8+ years of experience as a software engineer, proficiency in designing, developing, and launching backend systems at scale, and experience delivering major features and system components.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience as a software engineer
• Proficiency in designing, developing, and launching backend systems at scale technologies like Python, Kotlin, AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes
• Proficiency in developing web apps using declarative UI frameworks like React, React Native or Vue
• Experience delivering major features, system components or deprecating existing functionality in a system through the definition of a technical and execution plan
• Strong verbal and written communication skills that support effective collaboration with our global engineering team
• Comfortable moving from low level language idioms all the way to the architecture of large systems to understand how they work
