Teacher is responsible for assisting with the implementation of a quality developmentally appropriate childcare program. The Teacher helps to supervise the activities of the children, the student staff, and volunteers at the Children’s Center. Promoting a safe, healthy, and creative environment, the Teacher also participates in planning and implementing curriculum, and assessing children’s development.
Requirements
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
- 12 semester units in early childhood education or development required, including one course in each of the following core areas: child/human growth and development, child and family relations, and programs/curriculum or an AA in Early Childhood Education, or Child Development or a related field
- California Child Development permit of Associate Teacher or higher obtained within first 60 days of hire (at minimum proof of application submittal must be provided within the first 60 days of hire)
- Current American Red Cross Certification in the following: Adult and Pediatric CPR, First Aid, and AED
- Fifteen (15) hours of Health and Safety Training
- Minimum one (1) year experience working with preschool-aged children or infants and toddlers in a classroom setting that demonstrates the ability to perform the essential functions of the job
