The Medical Assistant works with the Physician and other members of the primary or specialty care team by performing a variety of clinical and administrative patient-related duties.
Requirements
- 1+ years medical assistant experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Current American Heart Association CPR Certification
- Certification from an approved medical assistant program
- Critical thinking skills
- Decisive judgment and the ability to work unsupervised or with minimal supervision
- Ability to respond appropriately to emergencies
- Ability to adapt to advancement and changing technology
- Ability to show attention to detail, accuracy and thoroughness
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with all levels of staff
- Basic typing skills to input various data into Information systems
- Experience in an outpatient practice
- Able to coordinate patient services, assist patients with office, medications and procedure authorizations and explain process to patients
- Ability to use EMR and perform chart abstraction into EMR
- Strong computer skills and use of Microsoft office
- Ability to prioritize work efficiently
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills and writing skills
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
- Must be able to multi-task and be flexible in changing work assignments at short notice, which includes increasing work hours as needed to cover the practice needs
- Ability to work in a fast-paced setting
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at a time
