Baltimore County Editor

The Banner seeks an experienced editor to oversee its expansion in Baltimore County. This editor will help lead a robust news desk for one of the nation’s most exciting and ambitious nonprofit media organizations, ensuring that this Pulitzer-winning newsroom continues to produce impactful, sustainable and urgent news.

Requirements

• Minimum of three years of experience managing and inspiring daily news reporters
• Impeccable journalistic integrity, editorial judgement and text-editing skills
• Demonstrated track record of overseeing and editing impactful stories
• Experience with public speaking and leading community discussions
• Modern understanding of digital journalism, including applicable metrics, off-platform strategies and audience-engagement techniques
• Ability to manage several stories concurrently and communicate across multiple divisions while keeping senior management informed of any potential issues
• Crystal clear communication skills, both oral and written
• Demonstrated ability to consistently meet tight deadlines
• Commitment and ability to contribute an equity lens to every aspect of people management and news coverage
• Willingness to live in the Baltimore region
