BD is seeking a Staff Engineer, Research and Development to lead the design, development, and testing of new medical devices and product enhancements. The successful candidate will work in the Salt Lake City R&D team and be responsible for developing innovative solutions to complex technical challenges in material selection, mechanical design, and manufacturing processes.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related scientific discipline
- 8+ years of progressive experience in medical device research and development within a regulated industry (e.g., FDA, ISO 13485)
- Demonstrated experience leading complex R&D projects from concept to commercialization
- Strong understanding of design control principles and regulatory requirements for medical devices
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks) and simulation tools
- Experience with various manufacturing processes relevant to medical devices (e.g., injection molding, extrusion, machining, assembly)
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively present technical information to diverse audiences
- Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team in a fast-paced environment
- Proven hands-on execution of statistical analysis and Design of Experiments (DOE) as part of DFSS and DFM activities to drive design optimization and robust product development.
