Commissioned Inspector – FDA Tobacco Inspection Program

The Bizzell Group is seeking FDA-Commissioned Inspectors to conduct undercover tobacco compliance inspections in North Carolina retail locations. Inspectors must follow strict federal and state protocols to ensure compliance with the Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control Act and FDA guidelines, preventing youth access to tobacco products and enforcing advertising and labeling standards. This role is critical to tobacco regulations.

Requirements

• Conduct Undercover Buy (UB) and Advertising & Labeling (A&L) inspections at licensed tobacco retail outlets.
• Ensure compliance with FDA and North Carolina guidelines related to tobacco sales and marketing.
• Properly document findings and maintain compliance with chain of custody protocols.
• Coordinate with state and federal program officials to support compliance enforcement actions.
• Accurately enter inspection results into the FDA Tobacco Inspection Management System (TIMS).
• Prepare and submit detailed reports on findings.
• Complete annual training and certification to maintain FDA Commissioned Inspector status.
• Participate in routine quality assurance reviews.
• Maintain a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Must obtain FDA clearance.
