Product Engineer

Product Engineer role at Ciena, responsible for bringing next-generation platforms from design into high-volume manufacturing. The role involves leading the qualification and introduction of complex electromechanical systems, providing technical assessments, and collaborating with design engineering and supply chain partners.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline
• 5+ years of experience supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) for electromechanical subsystems in a manufacturing environment
• Strong expertise in electronics and mechanical design manufacturability, including Design for Manufacturing (DFM) assessments
• Hands-on knowledge of electronic manufacturing processes such as printed circuit board (PCB) assembly, soldering processes, and component integration
• Proven ability to manage multiple development programs simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to interface effectively with global partners and suppliers
• Experience working directly with contract manufacturers and suppliers to drive quality and production readiness
