Job Description
A music teacher is responsible for instructing students in the principles and techniques of music, teaching a variety of instruments and vocal styles, and planning and developing lessons on music in accordance with students' learning objectives.
Requirements
- Certification or licensures as a music teacher, depending on the state and level at which they are teaching
- Proficiency in one or more musical instruments, as well as a strong understanding of music theory, history, and appreciation
- Experience teaching music, either through internships or prior teaching positions
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively convey musical concepts and techniques to students
- Patience and the ability to work with students of all ages and skill levels
- Creativity and the ability to adapt teaching methods to meet the needs of individual students
- Flexibility and the ability to work in a variety of settings
