Software Engineer Level 2 (Python)

Role Overview

As a Software Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the development, maintenance, and transition of the business aviation flight tracking and data services. This position is designed for individuals with a solid understanding of data analytics, 4D, high performance computing, kinematics, spatial analysis and processing in Linux-based systems.

What You Will Do

Help design, build, and improve features across the platform, work closely with engineers, product, design, and infrastructure teams to deliver high-quality solutions, contribute across the full software development lifecycle within an Agile (Scrum) team, support sprint planning and delivery in line with the product roadmap, investigate, fix, and prevent software defects, supported by unit testing, create clear documentation and contribute to team best practices.

4+ years' commercial software development experience, including 3+ years with Python, experience building and maintaining web-based applications using Python plus technologies like JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML & CSS, exposure to cloud-native development and CI/CD pipelines (ideally AWS, Docker, Kubernetes), good knowledge of Git, code reviews, and Agile (Scrum) ways of working, familiarity with application security concepts (e.g. OWASP) and relational databases (e.g. MySQL, Postgres), clear communicator who enjoys collaborating, learning, and contributing to team best practices.

Requirements

• 4+ years' commercial software development experience
• 3+ years with Python
• Experience building and maintaining web-based applications using Python plus technologies like JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML & CSS
• Exposure to cloud-native development and CI/CD pipelines (ideally AWS, Docker, Kubernetes)
• Good knowledge of Git, code reviews, and Agile (Scrum) ways of working
• Familiarity with application security concepts (e.g. OWASP) and relational databases (e.g. MySQL, Postgres)
• Minimum 1st year university maths and/or physics skills
• Relevant Computer Science or Engineering degree
