Mechanical Engineer

KBR is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join their team at their Huntsville, Alabama office. The selected candidate will support high-energy laser system design and development projects, applying principles and techniques of mechanical engineering to complete engineering projects and solve engineering problems.

Requirements

• Research, design, modify, develop and evaluate systems, products, components, and applications by applying fundamental mechanical engineering principles
• Understand basic principles for evaluating stress, strain, thermal management, mechanics of materials, and other subjects from undergraduate academics
• Validate vendor equipment performance, quality, and capabilities by developing testing methods, performing tests, and documenting test results
• Conduct and evaluate final system performance through execution of test procedures and data analysis
• Lead projects to completion by developing schedules to ensure technical performance is met and within cost
• May perform site surveys and field installations under the supervision of a senior engineer
• Communicate and collaborate with other engineering disciplines, manufacturing personnel, management, vendors, customers, and subcontractors
• Prepare engineering documentation, i.e., drawings, project specifications, procedures, test data and results
