Serve as a subject matter expert for thermodynamic design considerations of steam turbines, providing direct contributor work on energy distribution and optimization within steam turbines.
Requirements
- Extensive experience in the design and optimization of thermodynamic systems in turbines or turbo machinery.
- Expertise in energy distribution and staging layout in steam or gas turbines.
- Proficiency in conducting thermodynamic 0D, 1D (meanline), and 2D (throughflow) type analyses using commercial simulation software or equivalent developed code.
- Experience in turbine loss models for primary, secondary and tertiary loss mechanisms.
- Experience in the shaping of the overall flow path to enable stable flow and energy distribution.
- Experience in utilizing steam as a working fluid.
- Experience addressing flow issues and optimization in turbine systems.
- Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams, balancing thermal, aerodynamic, and mechanical constraints.
- Capability to execute thermodynamic analyses for various applications within rotating machinery beyond the steam flow path
- Analysis of seals and packing
- Analysis of valves and exhaust hoods
- Exposure to Navy Nuclear applications or defense industry product lines.
- Proficiency in thermal-fluid interaction simulations.
- Knowledge of commercial RANS CFD software complemented by thermodynamic analysis tools.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field with a minimum of 5 years of experience
- Fluency in technologies and application domain
- Ability to lead a technical group independently
- US citizenship required
- Ability to obtain a security clearance required
