EPC Solar is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Utility-Scale Solar Estimator to join their growing renewable energy team. This role is responsible for analyzing project documentation, preparing accurate and comprehensive cost estimates, and supporting the preconstruction process from bid through project turnover.
Requirements
- Analyze project drawings, specifications, geotechnical reports, and bid documents to determine project scope, risks, and requirements.
- Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for utility-scale solar projects, including materials, labor, equipment, subcontractors, and indirect costs.
- Perform quantity takeoffs and develop comprehensive material breakdowns aligned with project design and construction methodologies.
- Collaborate with procurement to develop vendor pricing strategies and maintain current cost data for materials and equipment.
- Interface with engineering and field teams to evaluate installation methods, constructability, and opportunities to optimize material usage and reduce costs.
- Conduct site visits and assessments as needed to validate assumptions and gather critical estimating data.
- Utilize estimating software and industry tools to improve accuracy and efficiency in the bid process.
- Communicate with vendors, subcontractors, and suppliers to obtain pricing, availability, and lead-time information.
- Review contracts and technical specifications to identify potential risks, scope gaps, and cost impacts.
- Support project managers during the handoff from estimating to execution to ensure scope clarity and budget alignment.
- Continuously monitor industry trends, market pricing, regulatory requirements, and emerging technologies impacting utility-scale solar construction.
