The Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for sustaining product quality, process design, production efficiency, supplier management, driving product cost reduction and product consistency.
Requirements
- Provide exceptional production support on people, process, materials, and equipment in order to achieve operation principle goals (i.e. safety, quality, service, and productivity)
- Successfully lead and contribute to NPI teams and product launches at CM sites, typically through the following activities: process capability studies, process/test design, cell layouts, time-studies, inspection protocols, supplier qualification, quality control plan, work instruction documentation
- Work closely and cooperatively with Hardware, Software, Operations, Product, Supply Chain, Customer Solutions, and Marketing to ensure project alignment and success throughout life-cycle
- Serve as a product owner on one or more major Markforged product families, and drive sustaining engineering activities, coordinate engineering change cut-ins, manage build state record system
- Report manufacturing key performance metrics (KPI) to ops/eng leaders and to senior management
- Assume role as a technical point-of-contact (POC) with contract manufacturer program team, independently troubleshooting new and existing product/process problems related to design, material, or processes
- Trains and/or provides work direction to operators/technicians at internal or Contract Manufacturer Site
- Mentor junior manufacturing engineers in Markforged SOPs and program execution and may lead cross functional teams
- Drive accountability with internal and external stakeholders on project deliverables
- Independently design and implement of robust tooling/fixture solutions to improve process control and production throughput
- Work on dual sourcing initiatives and supplier launch initiatives
- Perform VA/VE activities, lead Kaizen events, CAPA resolution, and create value stream maps for key processes
- Identify and execute on DFM/A opportunities, mitigate project/products risks, and perform cost/benefit analysis
