Job Description
The Special Education Paraprofessional role supports the academic, behavioral, and social-emotional development of students with disabilities within NOLA Public Schools. Working under the supervision of a certified special education teacher, the paraprofessional assists in implementing IEPs, provides targeted support, and contributes to an inclusive learning environment.
Requirements
- Assist the special education teacher in implementing IEP goals, accommodations, and modifications.
- Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning.
- Provide support to students with disabilities in general education classrooms.
- Assist with behavioral support plans.
- Support students with self-care needs.
- Monitor student progress and communicate observations.
- Aid in administering accommodations during testing.
- Help prepare instructional materials.
- Ensure a safe and respectful environment.
- Participate in IEP meetings or related trainings.
- Support data collection and progress monitoring.
- Maintain confidentiality.
