Paraprofessional (SPED)

The Special Education Paraprofessional role supports the academic, behavioral, and social-emotional development of students with disabilities within NOLA Public Schools. Working under the supervision of a certified special education teacher, the paraprofessional assists in implementing IEPs, provides targeted support, and contributes to an inclusive learning environment.

Requirements

• Assist the special education teacher in implementing IEP goals, accommodations, and modifications.
• Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning.
• Provide support to students with disabilities in general education classrooms.
• Assist with behavioral support plans.
• Support students with self-care needs.
• Monitor student progress and communicate observations.
• Aid in administering accommodations during testing.
• Help prepare instructional materials.
• Ensure a safe and respectful environment.
• Participate in IEP meetings or related trainings.
• Support data collection and progress monitoring.
• Maintain confidentiality.
