PEIQ develops editorial systems for local newspapers, with locations in Augsburg and Bergkirchen, and tests solutions with prototypes and pilot customers.
The goal of this research project is to investigate whether the quantity and quality of AI-assisted generated messages increase at local newspaper publishers when potential authors are supported by an automatic verification process and a subsequent AI-assisted process for creating their articles.
The focus of your work is to write a final thesis with the following outline:
The company PEIQ, with locations in Augsburg and Bergkirchen, develops editorial systems for local newspapers, as well as specialized products for capturing and outputting editorial articles from editors, freelancers, and so-called reader reporters. PEIQ tests solutions with prototypes and selected pilot customers from the local newspaper segment, which use AI support to combine text and image fragments into AI-assisted suggestions for authors. Through this strongly simplified and accelerated content creation, the question of the quality and authenticity of the created content comes to the fore. The acquisition of authors, the quantity of content, and the review of the quality of the created content are a burden for local newspaper publishers, which should be reduced through technical support.
The research project will be based on the research hypotheses described in the next section. The basis is a prototypically built technical implementation of a setting that includes verification of potential authors via email and confirmation of an AI-assisted article proposal from text and image. In parallel, comparable results from a PEIQ pilot customer setting will be compared and evaluated, using manually verified authors and manually produced articles.
Basic thesis: In the context of externally supplied local news, AI-assisted generated messages are produced in greater quantity and better quality when they are automatically verified in this process, compared to a manual approach.
Low-threshold verification processes (One-Click) convert better than multi-stage verification processes.
AI-assisted generated articles are more frequently published when they have undergone an authenticity check by a verified author.
