Principal Full Stack Engineer

We are looking for a Principal Full Stack Engineer to join our team at Questrade Financial Group. The ideal candidate will have expert knowledge of NodeJS and Angular, as well as experience with Microservices and RESTful APIs. The role involves leading the execution of highly complex engineering tasks, mentoring engineers, and making key architectural decisions.

Requirements

• BS or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Systems Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
• 8+ years of professional software development experience, with a proven track record of shipping successful, large-scale full stack applications
• Expert knowledge of NodeJS and server-side TypeScript
• Strong experience with frameworks like ExpressJS, NestJS, and Fastify
• Solid understanding of Microservices and RESTful APIs
• Expert knowledge of Angular for web
• Mastery of JavaScript/TypeScript and modern frontend ecosystems
• Experience with React Native or mobile development (considered a strong asset)
• Expert knowledge of engineering principles and strong knowledge of multiple architectural patterns
• Applied experience leveraging development and QA tools, frameworks, and testing methodologies
• Strong experience with SQL and NoSQL databases and cloud providers (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
• Ability to exceptionally perform and lead others on highly complex engineering tasks by applying or researching best solutions
• Ability to take the lead on highly complex tasks with assistance from other engineers
• Proven experience acting as a technical reference and supporting team decision-making
• Strong ability to document technical solutions and lead technical discussions within the team
• Excellent analytical skills to troubleshoot highly complex issues and propose efficient engineering solutions
